May I have some goals?

It’s the only month to use this title in and it’s better than that N’Sync meme of “It’s gonna be….” May. Please, make that one stop.

I got to get me some goals for this month. I haven’t really used a monthly goal structure at all in the past. I have been known to dabble in the New Years resolutions but as you know, the only resolution I can keep on that is they won’t get done. It’s as sure as the moon waxing and waning each month. Oh, that moon. On goal point.

pexels-photo-1034064.jpegAt work, we use an agile process. Which seems to work well, for the most part. At least with the things we can control. In agile, you break down a large work effort into smaller bite sized efforts that can be completed in a given time period. We use a two week time frame. It’s a bunch of doable goals due in 9 working days. 9 because of one day is planning. Yeah, it can’t be helped in this format.

At home? I have general things I want to do but no real format or time frame to do them in. Case in point. The Extra Life United videos. It took over a month and a half to get the two videos done after I got back on March 12th. I didn’t have a time-frame on when I got them done, they just needed to get  done. I still have one or two more videos to do from that trip. I just hope that I can get them done before next March!

And here is where these smaller goals come to play. For May. So let’s get at them.

  1. Raise $100 for Extra Life
  2. Finalize Extra Life fundraiser with Habit Burger
  3. Film second goal from Extra Life 2017
  4. Edit rest of video footage from Orlando

That’s a lot of Extra Life going on in here.

I feel these are all doable. And actually somewhat easy and within my control. Given how I work towards goals in my own time, going easy will be tough. The squirreling quotient is high.  If squirrels actually squirreled, there would be less squirrels in the world.

So there you have it. What I want to accomplish in the main story line for May. There will be no doubt a ton of side quests to take my attention away. Some forced ones where I must sit and watch. Others encounters I’ll have to look dead in the end and say “Cancel” as I find the path back to the primary goal. I got this. I think.
